Former Turkish MP Feyzi Isbasaran has been sentenced to almost three years in jail for posting tweets deemed to be insulting to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
Isbasaran was arrested on December 8, 2014 and released to face trial in January.
He has reportedly been sentenced to two years and ten months in prison for posting tweets that 'discredit' Erdogan and his family.
The prosecution claimed Isbasaran used 'severe profanity' in messages about the president and his wife.
However the former member of Erdogan's own AK party said the tweets, which have since been deleted, were directed at a person named A.O.
